Dynamic Statistical Graphics in a Highly Immersive Environment

Juergen Symanzik, Dianne Cook, Bradley D. Kohlmeyer, Uli Lechner, Carolina Cruz-Neira.
Iowa State University (1996).

This video shows two examples of dynamic statistical graphics in the C2, a highly immersive virtual reality environment at Iowa State University. The first example demonstrates linked brushing between places on a map and a three-dimensional scatterplot of measurements made at these places. The second example demonstrates a three-dimensional Grand Tour on data generated by placing a point at each vertex of a six-dimensional cube. The video has been made using the Desktop-Development Environment of the C2.

This video shows an example of dynamic statistical graphics in the C2, a highly immersive virtual reality environment at Iowa State University. The video demonstrates linked brushing between places on a map and a three-dimensional scatterplot of measurements made at these places. The video has been made via real video recordings of people operating in the C2 and by using the Desktop-Development Environment of the C2.

This video shows interaction tools for dynamic statistical graphics in the C2, a highly immersive virtual reality environment at Iowa State University. The video demonstrates how to rotate the three-dimensional viewing box that may contain a three-dimensional scatterplot or a three-dimensional map, how to select color, glyph, and glyph size for brushing, and how to select the type and size of the paintbrush, all by operating a wand that can be used to toggle, switch, and slide three-dimensional icons in the C2. The video has been made using the Desktop-Development Environment of the C2.
